As you may have heard, we have a baby on the way- and it's a GIRL!!! We found out a couple of weeks ago and since then, my head has been filled with pink! I'm actually not a big fan of pink so the nursery brainstorm has gotten interesting. So far, I am positive that I don't want a matchy matchy pink princess nursery for Baby Dale. I'm looking for a retro/ modern feel with feminine and vintage details. I've enlisted the help of a friend to make custom bedding for the crib (if I could only find said crib!) I haven't been a fan of too many cribs thus far- so that's an issue. I have some ideas of fabric- I want bold graphics in different patterns. I'm thinking owls and chevrons. I have been pinning like mad and wanted to share some of my finds with you. Feel free to voice your opinion here in a comment. I can't wait to hear your ideas!
This color scheme is a bit too dark for me, but there are some fabulous elements to this room. The bedding is fantastic as well as the mixing of prints throughout the space. Image via Project Nursery "Jude's Vintage Nursery" by Ginny.

Setting the predominate color scheme of pink behind us- pay attention to the details. Aren't they lovely? The artwork, stool and chandelier are so charming. Image via Project Nursery "Vintage with a Touch of Modern" by RedDoorDesign

Pop of color moment in a dresser! Check out this tutorial here. Not only do I enjoy the chevron pattern on the dresser, but the way it's styled. The shadowboxes, art, lamp and owl are such a nice touch.
One of my favorite nursery inspiration pins to date is this one from iraitsils blog.
Graphic City! Such a cool nursery with fun color and print everywhere!

Boho Charm. I would love to find a crib that's in color but have had no luck. I'm afraid to paint it myself- not sure if that's safe or not? What do you think? I plan to include a guest bed in a twin size in my nursery so that I can hang out with Baby Dale. Image via Nursery Notations blog "Chloe's Modern Vintage Nursery".

Wall Art done right! Isn't the paper gorgeous too?

More Chevrons. Yellow and Grey must be the theme of the season. I love the colors together but decided against it. I want a bright room. Image via Chic and Cheap Nursery.

Do you have any favorites? Do you have children? Where did you find your inspiration? Crib help- I'm dying over here?!?

Bre, I did Black, White and Red Scottie dogs. Very bold graphics that worked nicely for Boys and Girls. Super easy to find items to mix and match to decorate and it aged well from year to year and as they grew. You could take the baby items out and put in bright toddler items and the room still looked fresh and fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love the bold graphics point! I will have to think about making things work for a possible little "brother" someday b/c I hadn't thought of that. Thanks.
DeleteAs an interior designer, I love the bold colors and patterns! It's amazing to me how Chevrons are so "in" right now, I was going to do some chevrons in my bedroom but ended up moving instead... One idea would be to have an accent wall with the chevrons, all the walls painted with your base color and then your accent color becomes the chevrons. Looking forward to hearing and seeing what you decide to do!
ReplyDeleteEmily- same here. I'm an interior designer too- but I do commercial work. I don't want to be trendy so it's unfortunate that chevrons and owls are both so "in" but I am stearing clear of the norm- trust me. I can't wait to get it together.
DeleteAhh! I love the subtle horizontal stripes in the second one, and the chevrons in the last one. I also love the idea of having a bed in the nursery, what a great idea. And I like all of the lamps that aren't just your average boring ceiling fan or something. They had wonderful interest.
ReplyDeleteI think you're going to have to post pics of progress of the nursery... you've got some wonderful inspiration!
I only have boys so I have dreamed of little girl rooms! I always wanted a chocolate and pink room for a little girl but I really like some of the more unique color combos you have shown above!
ReplyDeleteI am so sad that Pinterest wasnt' around when I was pregnant with my kids....although their rooms would have been pretty darn amazing if it would have been. :)
ReplyDeleteThe top one is very retro- it reminds me of 'Mad Men', I agree- much too dark, but also my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI think I am more of a traditionalist for babies nurseries but some of these would be nice for an adult room.
